Finally, Google has started working on another GPS app, Waze. According to NineTwoFiveGoogle, the company has added support for Bluetooth beacons — which will allow it to determine its GPS location inside tunnels, or in places where satellites don't work. The feature is currently only available for Android.

Here's what's good to know — Bluetooth beacons are designed to locate you underground or in places where GPS doesn't work. Wedge beacons are battery-operated low-power micro-controller hardware that streams unidirectional signals to the user's phone or tablet. According to Google, it does not collect any user data. It has been installed underground in just a few cities—including New York, Paris, Sydney, Rio, and more.

Wedge was first deployed in 2016. This function does not turn on automatically but must be turned on. To turn it on, go to Settings and go to Navigation Settings. After that go to the driving option towards the bottom of the list. Under this will be a Bluetooth Tunnel Beacon option. It should be turned on.

The feature was launched as a beta last October, according to news outlet Engage. Now it is initially launched. It also works well inside many complex tunnels. It has added some more advanced features like—electrical charge information, AI capabilities, stunning views, and more.
